Formed in 2007 in their hometown, Hokkaido, Galileo Galilei (ガリレオガリレイ) started out as a rock band called "Kankou Riot" and had members Ozaki Yuuki (Vocal and Lead Guitar), Kazuki (Drums), Sako Hitoshi (Bass) and another guitar player. In 2008, they won a competition for rock bands and got a deal to debut their band.

They had a thought about it and the other guitar player chose not to continue and disbanded the band and the rest of Kankou Riot went on a search to find another guitar player. That's when Iwai Fumito who formely was the lead vocalist and guitar from another band called "Guild". They met when Iwai was playing their now indies song "Hello Goodbye". They became friends and then the new group Galileo Galilei was formed.

The name Galileo Galilei was chosen by drawing an idea from a tissue box. Everyone put two titles in the tissue box and then Sako's idea was chosen which was Galileo Galilei. Sako chose this idea because he thought naming the band a person who was famous for his history would be great.

Galileo Galilei have released three singles up till the present. Their debut single is Hamanasu no Hana and this was used for an advertisement campaign for au [Lismo]. Their second single Natsuzora was used for the anime "Ookiku furikabutte" opening. And their latest single Yotsuba sagashi no tabibito.

Ozaki Yuuki has an interest in dogs. And has made a mini anime series. This was called Inu gui ryyu. (Dragon eating dog) It was about a dog going on an adventure to slay this dragon for a mysterious reason.
